Trampolines – What Makes A Good Trampoline?

Trampolines and trampolining are a relatively recent innovation, hailing from the 1940’s, but there are a number of generally agreed upon factors that make for a good trampoline.

Trampolines need to be in good working order to get the most out of them and the activity of trampolining is generally considered to be amongst the most exhilarating out there. Trampolines come in all shapes, sizes and styles but in order to be considered a good trampoline, there are a number of set criteria that they can adhere to.

Trampolines – Everything You Need To Know

When it comes to trampolines, there are a number of elements that you need to consider when buying and looking after you trampolining apparatus. The following guidelines will elucidate what makes a good trampoline:

  • Frame – A trampolines’ frame should be metal tubing that is sufficiently strong and properly rust protected. The component parts shouldn’t come apart easily when moved and especially not during use.
  • Springs – The engine of trampolines. Generally speaking, the greater the total weight of the working wire, the better. Trampolines with too much are better than too little but there is no point having too many springs on trampolines.
  • Accessories – Accessories that come with trampolines are becoming increasingly popular. Things such as enclosures and pole paddings are often bought with trampolines.
  • Weather Covers – When it comes to trampolines, it is generally a good idea to consider purchasing a weather cover. A good weather cover will have plenty of drainage points to avoid water pooling on the trampoline during wet weather.
  • Frame Pads – These vary hugely between budget and quality of trampolines. When considering that frame pads consist of foam and fabric resting on steel springs, you need to ensure that they are both effective and safe. You should look for a heavy covering fabric, a secured elasticated fixing system and a reasonable thickness of high density, non-absorbent foam.
